I have to admit to being VERY sad that I am not playing Elf this year.
I made the tough decision after Christmas last year to let F know about the true magic of Christmas.
I felt that with high school looming it was the right time. He was gutted but then really excited about taking over the control of Elf on the shelf!
Phew! I was seriously running out of ideas! After 7 years it’s hardly surprising.
I thought with the Elf season fast approaching and the FOMO building fast sharing some of our favourite EOTS antics might help alleviate this feeling.
1. I Pee’d myself
I think I found this way funnier than my child did!
2. Bake off Elves
Elf bake off! F is a huge baking fan. He loved this.
3. Balloon Bath
The look on his face made almost passing out worth it! It takes a lot of balloons to fill a bath.
4. Do you wanna build a snowman?
This cute frozen inspired snowman kit was the perfect addition to a bit of elf ‘snow’ fun.
5. Poop Cookies??
I think my favourite part of EOTS is being a bit naughty! This was a lot of fun, and despite looking gross, the boy loved eating them!
6. Glow in the dark toilet
A light up toilet?!? Oh yes! It was worth the £6 just to see his delight!
7. What a load of pants!
My beautiful tree covered in pants, the kids thought this was hilarious and F still counts it as his favourite.
8. Captive Elves
I always had a lot of fun including the kids toys in elf antics. F used to get really cross with his toys when they attacked his precious elves!
8. All wrapped up
Little did he know, when he opened his lunch box at school that they’d wrapped that all up too. Wish I could have seen his friends reaction to this one.
9. Capture the tooth fairy
The naughty elves kidnapped the tooth fairy… it’s ok though as she got her own back.
10. Popcorn sack races
Simple but effective!
11. Shoe-Shoe train
The Shoe – shoe train! F was outraged they’d used his shoes but was very pleased that they’d not taken his school shoes! Clever elves.
12. Spidey just hanging around
Spider-Man to the rescue!
13. Photo taking Elves
If your child has a tablet with a camera this is a great one to do. F loved it… even if they did ‘waste the battery’
14. Christmas jumper day
Joining in with Christmas jumper day.
15. Elfie Cyrus
Elfie Cyrus came in like a wrecking ball!
16. London bound baby
Christmas 2016 and we took the children on a London adventure thanks to the elves… they get all the credit!
17. Fishing Elves
Some might say this is less elf more Gnome but you’d be wrong
18. Poppin’ Elf-rates
The elves playing games was a popular one, especially when they left it for him to play with afterwards.
19. North pole Breakfast
To welcome the elves each year we’d have a North Pole breakfast. Lots of naughty Yumminess!
20. Elf bath time
Love a good soak in the tub those naughty elves!
21. Hot air balloon arrival
In 2017, the elves arrived by hot air balloons
22. Toasting marshmallows
The elves loved toasting their marshmallows on my favourite candles
23. Movie night elf style
What would Christmas be without Elf provided by our very own Elf
24. Christmas Eve goodies
The elves would say goodbye to us by delivering our Christmas Eve hampers. One year they even bought a snowman from the North Pole, sadly it didn’t survive the night. My house was obviously warmer than I thought!
As elf on the shelf grew in popularity in recent years, the props that were suddenly every where made it a lot easier to come up with nightly antics.
Although I never spent too much on elf fun (thank you Poundland!) it did mean that I always had a quick go to if I’d forgotten about them.
F is looking forward to creating havoc for the girls this year and I’m excited to see what he comes up with. Hopefully he will be more inventive than I was.
I know it’s not for everyone but I will remember the 7 Decembers of fun and magic for years to come.
The look on F’s face when he discovered them each morning made all the faff worthwhile. In fact, it was not just F. I had many friends on social media who eagerly awaited a photo each morning of what they’d been up to. Mum in particular was a big fan. Our first elf, chippy was knitted by Mum and will be treasured forever.
Are you elfers or do you find the whole thing a bit creepy or ridiculous? Have you got any wonderful Elf stories and pictures to share? I’d love to see them.
Happy elfing to you all!!
